Process simulation is unquestionably instrumental in cost, quality and delivery improvements.
After the final container design approval, the use of FEA technology is fundamental to predict the container final glass wall thickness distribution, considering the correct parison design, production process, glass composition and IS machinery used in the container manufacture (delivering system, cooling system and machine timing).
EmpakGlass approach will deliver our customers a higher level starting point on a very early production stage. This will effectively reduce the amount of trials needed before the sampling approval for final production.
Our support packages can be described in three main categories:
PARISON DESIGN & CONTAINER FORMING SIMULATION
- Developing the appropriate parison design for your specific container, guiding you to achieve an optimized and even glass thickness;
- Simulating and assessing the forming process based on your current or new developed parison designs, guiding you to the optimal shape;
- Performing light weighting trials on your containers, avoiding the traditional trial & error approach.
MOULD EQUIPMENT DESIGN
- Defining the correct IS machine variables: orifice ring diameter; scoop, through, deflector sizes; blank side assembly variables; blow side assembly variables.
- Designing all the necessary mould equipment drawings: blank mould, blow mould, neck ring, baffle, loading funnel, plunger, cooling tubes, thimble, bottom plate…
MOULD COOLING DEVELOPMENT & ANALYSIS
- Designing the most appropriate cooling schemes on blank and blow moulds and neck rings;
- Optimizing the plunger cooling tube design for P&B and NNP&B;
- Reducing thermal defects.
