Empakglass wishes all the best for the upcoming 2021!

It has been already 9 years since Empakglass started, from an idea and commitment to reduce the gap between product concept and production in the glass container industry.

As the year comes to a close, we would like again to take the opportunity to thank you, for your continued commitment to challenge and work with Empakglass.

This has been a very challenging year! The impact of not being able to perform a direct onsite assistance, was only reduced, as we were fortunate to be prepared since 2017, already with our Virtual Technical Support and Webinar trainings.

Having set foot directly in San Diego, USA and keeping our EU base, in Lisbon, Portugal allows us now to give a broader timezone support. We have also increased our team, to better support our clients in a faster and dedicated manner.

We are looking forward to 2021, to be challenged and to help finding solutions to your projects!

Using simulation to determine glass thickness - PAKFORMING

Did you know that Empakglass uses internally developed software to determine the glass thickness distribution?

How does it work?

Using each client's specific glass properties, type of IS machine, product process and CR, we determine which orifice ring and delivery system to use, as well as the gob temperature.

These are the initial inputs, which are coupled to the blanks and blow mould temperatures in order to simulate the results.

In a further step, we simulate filling line conditions, like handling, capping, pasteurization as well as pallet storage and transport conditions and even correlate the results with the actual filling line mapping, to determine the breakage percentage at each step of the process.

This integrated process is used during the development of a new concept bottle as well as for lightweighting or even troubleshooting scenarios.

Supporting the front line against COVID-19 seen in retrospective

In a time which across Europe we are starting to have the containment measures on COVID-19 starting to less restrict, towards a new normality, we can start to look in retrospective in which ways we supported our communities.

When our clients kept working either by keeping the supply chain for food & beverage industry not to have any shortages or by shifting filling lines towards the production of alcohol for medical applications, Empak Team integrated a 3D printing group with the sole target to print and donate PPE's for hospitals, retirement homes, clinics, Police, Firemen and all first responder forces.

We placed all of our 3D printers in action, while working from home, towards this common goal 24/7 and printed thousands of PPE's and delivered it all over Portugal. Not happy with that, In our local communities, we provided donations and groceries for social institutions.

The lesson that came out of all this...even a small organization, can definitely have an impact in supporting a goal which is far bigger than all of us.
