After returning from Fevisa, Mexicali, still in February, Empak and Emhart held another Product Development & Mould Design Training (PDMDT), this time in our Webinar format.

This time, the client to request our webinar format, was DURAN®.

ree

DURAN® is dedicated in producing laboratory glassware made from borosilicate glass 3.3.

This glass is well known for its chemical resistance and inert behavior, minimal thermal expansion and the resulting high resistance to thermal shock. It also conforms to the requirements of Type 1 neutral glass suitable for pharmaceutical applications.

This training, in particular was quite interesting as it was the first time that this training was around a non classic soda-lime glass.

It was delightful to share different insights and to come (once again), to the conclusion that glass properties, glass temperature and viscosities, have a dramatic influence on how IS production settings are made, as well as for tolerances and clearances!

Once again, we focused on a holistic approach, ranging from glass properties, IS timing and even the impact of glass conditioning, gob temperature and delivery system in order to develop the building blocks for a successful mould design.

As part of our tradition in these trainings, we invite the attendees to bring real case scenarios to challenge Empak's PAKForming Simulator and this time was no exception.

Our deep thanks to the participants from DURAN® who brought a lot of interest and discussion onto the subjects, something that truly makes Product Development and Mould Design such an important aspect on the Supply Chain of Container Glass Industry.

As part of Empakglass's support on a Greenfield Project for a particular client, we have developed a new Mouldshop Layout.

This is a part of the business, for which Empak isn't so well known, but definitely something we have been doing already for several years, from furnaces until the mouldshops.

The idea here is to have the best possible workflow in between bench and conventional lathes, as well as for a dedicated and climatized CNC room, with proper anti-vibration floor, keeping as much natural light as possible entering the space. Adjacent to the mouldshop, will stay the mould warehouse.

Also, one particular room in the installation will be dedicated to Mould Quality Checkups and statistical analysis, correlating results in between mould dimensions/volumes and the actual glass containers being produced.

As we consider that information is paramount, even in the Mouldshop, there will be an LCD screen stating the on time efficiencies, to demonstrate that also the work that is made here as got a direct impact on the glass plant production results!

The year still goes in February and Empak and Emhart held another Product Development & Mould Design Training, in Fevisa Mexicali.

During this training we had attendees ranging from:

  • IS Production;

  • Product Development & Mould Design;

  • Mouldshop;

  • Industrial Projects

Also the fact that there were IS Production and Mouldshop attendees from Arglass, USA, a plant with a a very specific type of product mix, made the level of interaction and debate very broad and passionate!

Therefore we focused on a holistic approach, ranging from glass properties, IS timing and even the impact of glass conditioning, gob temperature and delivery system in order to develop the building blocks for a successful mould design.

As part of our tradition in these trainings, we invite the attendees to bring real case scenarios to challenge Empak's PAKForming Simulator and this time was no exception.

We even simulated a new parison for a new trial and discussed with the team on the training. As result, Empak proposed another iteration of the Parison, for Fevisa use as a trial.

Our deep thanks to the participants from Fevisa and Arglass which provided a huge level of passion and interest onto the subjects, something that truly makes Product Development and Mould Design such an important aspect on the Supply Chain of Container Glass Industry. And also for their great Hospitality!

Finally, we had the chance to join with our CEO, Pedro Pontes, that visited us, to talk about anything but work!
