Following the seminar held for Encirc in Chester last October, it was time for a new edition, this time at the Derrylin plant in Northern Ireland, with a stronger focus on Product and Mould Design.

@ENNIONSTUDIO led the sessions on conceptual design, container requirements, and how to translate them into production-ready glass containers, while @Empakglass focused on bringing those concepts to life through their expertise in production processes and tool development.

The training covered a wide range of key topics, including:

🔹 The roadmap for container conceptual design and key requirements

🔹 Principles of production-ready container design and lightweighting

🔹 Fundamentals of mould design and performance

🔹 Practical applications and optimization strategies

🔹 Parison design for all forming processes: Blow & Blow (B&B), Narrow Neck Press & Blow (NNPB), and Wide Mouth Press & Blow

It was fascinating to apply real-world cases to the guidelines, correlate them with IS timings, and even troubleshoot potential glass defects.

This hands-on approach helps glass plants start production from a stronger foundation, reduce defects, anticipate critical issues, and ultimately shorten time to market, while also strengthening communication between departments within the plant.

A huge thank-you to all participants for their passion and engagement, which showcases the qualities that make Product Development and Mould Design such vital parts of the glass industry supply chain.

We look forward to new challenges and to continuing our mission of finding smart, effective solutions for the Glass Industry!

Just after having one Empak team returning from the UK, another Empak Team was picking up a plane to travel to Shanghai at the invite of Jinhua Mould to perform a Mould Design Workshop.

The training covered a wide range of essential topics, including:

🔹 Parison design for all forming processes – Blow & Blow (B&B), Narrow Neck Press & Blow (NNPB), and Wide Mouth Press & Blow

🔹 Key principles of mould design and performance

🔹 Practical applications and optimization strategies

It was a great opportunity to exchange knowledge with a Mould Manufacturer with an incredible installed manufacturing capacity, align best practices and strengthen technical understanding while communicating with the glass plants.

A big thank you to everyone at JHMould for their engagement and hospitality — we look forward to more collaborations in the future!

Next stop? You tell us. Let’s build it. Although Empak has much more visibility in terms of trainings, our core is actual shopfloor work and bridging the gap in between fillers and glass plants!

Sincerely,

All Empakglass Team!

Once again, Empak was invited by Encirc Academy for a Product Development & Mould Design training for IS specialists, Mouldshop and Shift Leaders.

Using the holistic approach of Empak's Concept+ on its usual roadmap starting from the glass and its properties, then diving immediatly on each production process, it's parison design rules and relating them with IS timings and cooling approaches, several simulations were demonstrated in BB, WMPB and NNPB.

Was really interesting to combine real cases with the provided guidelines and correlate with the used IS timings and even troubleshoot possible glass defects.

This practical approach enables to start productions on a better starting point, reduce defects and ultimately reduce the time to market. Also deepens the communication in between departments inside a glass plant.

Our deep thanks to the participants which provided a huge level of passion and interest onto the subjects, something that truly makes Product Development, Mould Design and how it performs on a IS Machine such an important aspect on the Supply Chain of Container Glass Industry.

We are looking forward to be challenged and continue to help finding solutions!

And see you soon in Derrylin, Encirc Team!

Sincerely,

Yordan Kamenov and Hélder Remédios!
